Hibernian have signed Norwich City defender George Francomb on loan until June.

The 20-year-old right back told the club website he was excited about his move to Easter Road.

"I'm really pleased to be joining Hibs on loan - it is a big club with tremendous potential," he said.

"My immediate aim is to get a regular run of games under my belt and help the team to climb up the table."

The defender added: "I played with (Hibs defender) David Stephens at Norwich and he's told me all about the club's fanbase and you can't help but be impressed by the training ground.

"I'm hungry for success and I want to achieve that here with Hibs."

Manager Pat Fenlon was delighted to sign Francomb but admitted finding experienced players who are up for a relegation battle was proving difficult.

"He fits the bill for what we're looking for, he can play right-back or centre-midfield," said the Irishman.

"We've had him watched after contacts brought him to our attention.

"He was very enthusiastic about coming to Scotland. He had a couple of options in England so that was a plus.

"He knew what he was getting into and he showed good character about coming here and being up for the fight."

Fenlon, who has released midfielders Victor Palsson and Matt Thornhill, added: "We're working on getting players in. It's proving a little bit more difficult.

"We are looking for more experience in different areas. There are plenty of young players being put to us but that's not really what I'm looking for.

"We have identified and are talking to some who will improve us, whether we get them or not will depend on other teams.

"It's important we don't panic, we will hold our nerve until we get the ones we want."
