MK Dons chairman Pete Winkelman has welcomed the financial windfall his club will enjoy from their FA Cup replay against QPR.

The Dons held the Premier League side in front of a record crowd at Stadium MK to earn a trip to Loftus Road.

"It's a good situation because you get a share of the gate," Winkelman told

"Having the first game and now the replay is all good news for our budget this year."

The return fixture against Rangers, who have replaced him with Mark Hughes since Saturday's clash, holds the incentive of a home tie against Chelsea in the fourth round for the winners.

"This is a great example of how you just can't get too carried away," added Winkelman.

"It's an enormous game at Loftus Road. They've got the change of manager which always puts a bit of fire into the players.

"So it's a massive ask for us to go and get a result there. But we're playing well enough to have a chance.

"If we get through, a game against Chelsea would be incredibly special and exciting to look forward to."

The Dons face QPR in their third round replay on Tuesday, 17 January.
