Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard says he has sympathy for Bolton's Adam Bogdan after scoring his first ever goal in Wednesday's 2-1 defeat by Bolton.
Howard's long clearance bounced over the Trotters keeper in blustery conditions at Goodison Park.
"I was excited to score a goal and I've never done that before," Howard told 91热爆 Radio Merseyside.
"I really feel for Adam Bogadan but those things happen and you have to move on from it."
The United States international added: "I'm disappointed from a goalkeeper's standpoint and you never want to see that happen.
Howard wants to see improvements
"It's ugly, not very nice and can be embarrassing."
The midweek defeat leaves Everton, who face non-league Tamworth in the FA Cup third round on Saturday, 11th in the Premier League table.
Howard believes the performance against Bolton match was not to their usual high standards but has urged his team-mates not to dwell on past performances.
"It's up to us to look ourselves in the mirror as it wasn't good enough," the United States international continued. "But we need to get ready for Tamworth and there is no sense in looking back.
"Tamworth are going to be up for it and they'll fight and it's up to us to put on a performance to get the crowd out of their seats in the Cup.
"Tamworth will give everything they have to get us back to their place and we don't want that."
