Aldershot winger Jermaine McGlashan says he is determined to prove his worth to manager Dean Holdsworth.

The 23-year-old lost his place in the starting eleven after the defeat by Swindon in November.

McGlashan told 91热爆 Surrey: "It's been a bit of a hard time for me of late. I'll be my own biggest critic and I know I need a kick sometimes.

"I've got the hunger to get my head down, work hard and do well for the gaffer and this club."

McGlashan says he is grateful to former Wimbledon and Bolton striker Holdsworth for explaining why he had been dropped to the bench.

He added: "The gaffer's been honest and he's said we're in the world where you need to be instant - and I can be guilty of not performing week-in, week-out.

"I really appreaciate the gaffer because he's been there and he knows what I'm going through.

"I've had previous managers that don't really say much to you, but he's spoken to me all the way.

"There's a lot of healthy competition. It's important for me to show I'm still here."
