Burnley manager Eddie Howe is impressed with the impact made by Wales international striker Sam Vokes.

The 22-year-old, currently on-loan from Wolves, scored his first goal for the Clarets in Tuesday's 4-0 home win against Ipswich Town.

"I've been really pleased with him, he's a great lad and he's given us a lift," Howe told 91热爆 Radio Lancashire.

"Him and Jay Rodriguez have already hit an instant partnership, I've been really pleased."

Vokes has joined Burnley club until 15 January, having previously played alongside Howe at Bournemouth.

"I'm aware, having previously worked with him, what he'll bring off the pitch," Howe added.

"His mentality, attitude and physical presence."

Burnley have three strikers, Charlie Austin, Martin Paterson and Danny Ings, absent at the moment because of injuries.

"Jay dose need that physical presence at times alongside him," said Howe. "It's benefited him and the team.

"What's more exciting for me is when you look at Charlie, Martin and Danny to all come back into it."
