Oldham Athletic winger Chris Taylor keen to play at higher level

Oldham Athletic winger Chris Taylor has spoken of a desire to play at a higher level than League One.

The 24-year-old has long been linked with a move away with last season.

"If I were to leave I'm not too interested in money, it's not a massive factor in my life, but I do want to play higher and I still feel I can do.

"At the minute I'm an Oldham player. I love playing so long may it continue," he told .

The Oldham-born midfielder, who came through the youth system at Boundary Park, made his debut in February 2006 and has gone on to make 261 appearances for the Latics, scoring 33 goals.

Taylor believes promotion is possible

His contract , but because Taylor will be aged over 24 when the deal ends, the Latics would not be entitled to compensation should he leave.

Despite the speculation over his future, Taylor says he is optimistic about the rest of the season.

"It looks bright at the minute, you don't want to talk to soon, [but] we could achieve something this year," he added.

"The gaffer [Paul Dickov] is doing a very good job. He's not only brought in players, he's brought in very good players.

"He's young, he's hungry, he wants success. His determination and his drive rubs off on all the lads and he'll never accept second best.

"He won't be happy if we go out there and have a good season, he wants us to have a brilliant season."
