Bournemouth grabbed a draw against fellow strugglers Rochdale through a controversial penalty.

The visitors took the lead with a spot-kick of their own when Gary Jones converted after Nicky Adams had been pulled down by Stephane Zubar.

The Cherries' penalty came when Wesley Thomas fell under a challenge from keeper Jake Kean, despite Kean's claims he had made contact with the ball.

Michael Symes scored from the spot and almost grabbed a winner but shot over.

Bournemouth boss Lee Bradbury told 91Èȱ¬ Radio Solent:

"I am disappointed that we didn't play to the best of our abilities in the first half.

"Michael Symes has got a lot of belief in himself and he's been fantastic in training and he showed how hungry he is to do well.

"It's a little bit of a juggling act with the lads that are fit and we didn't play how I wanted us to in the first half."

Rochdale manager Steve Eyre told 91Èȱ¬ Radio Manchester:

"We now need to put two halves together and if we do that we'll win football matches.

"We knew the crowd were going to get behind the team second half, and we had a different task to contend with.

"We're disappointed we've not won but if we go on to continue our form, progress and development we'll start getting three points."
