Lenny Pidgeley wants to become Exeter City's first choice goalkeeper after his Johnstone's Paint Trophy penalty shootout heroics over Plymouth Argyle.

James Dunne gave City a first half lead before Luke Daley's spectacular second half strike sent the game to penalties.

Pidgeley then saved kicks from Carl Fletcher and Tom Hitchcock as City won the shootout 3-0.

"I said the day I signed that I'm going to come here and stake my claim," Pidgeley told 91热爆 Radio Devon.

"I'm not coming here to be a number two," added the 27-year-old former Chelsea player.

Pidgeley joined Exeter from Bradford City in the summer as competition for Artur Krysiak.

"It's the perfect way to make my debut. I've been pretty patient and I've been training hard," Pidgeley added.

"I think I've settled in pretty well, I get on well with all the lads, they're a great set of lads, and I just want to get back playing football and doing well for this club."
