Bury have completed the signing of Northampton Town striker Shaun Harrad for an undisclosed fee.

The Shakers have also signed midfielders Shane Byrne and Giles Coke from Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.

Byrne, 18, has joined on a month's loan while Coke, 24, has arrived on an initial two-month loan deal.

Harrad, 26, has signed a three-year deal at Gigg Lane, eight months after joining the Cobblers from Burton.

He scored six goals in 18 games for Northampton, but has yet to feature this season and was deemed surplus to requirements by boss Gary Johnson.

He spent four and a half years at Burton, netting 69 times in 229 league games for the Brewers.

Johnson said of Harrad's departure: "The decision to let Shaun go was a combination of a playing decision and a wish to bring the budget back into line.

"Over the summer we added two major strikers to the squad, players I feel will take us forward and that meant Shaun dropped down the pecking order. Shaun was not going to be happy doing that.

"He was one of the top wage earners here, and it did not seem right to have a player like that who was not going to be a key man or a first choice.

"I therefore felt it was in the best interests of Shaun and the club that he moved on, and he has now got himself a move to League One on a longer contract and we wish him well."

Meanwhile, Byrne withdrew from international duty with Republic of Ireland Under-19s to join up with the Shakers before the transfer deadline.
