Plymouth Argyle's Stephane Zubar has left the club for "personal reasons".

The 23-year-old Guadeloupe defender was the only out of contract player to rejoin Argyle this summer and had played in every match this season.

"I am extremely disappointed that Stephane is unable to stay with us," acting chairman Peter Ridsdale told

Argyle's future hangs in the balance as a deal to takeover the club must be completed by the end of this week.

Zubar was the most experienced defender in the Argyle back four after most of the senior squad was released last season.

Manager Peter Reid has had to rebuild his side with a mixture of youngsters and loan signings following the club's relegation and administration.

"Stephane will remain a friend of the club and leaves with our best wishes," Ridsdale added.

Zubar made 33 appearances for Argyle and made his debut for Guadeloupe in this summer's Concacaf Gold Cup.
