Rushden & Diamonds

A winding-up petition brought against Rushden & Diamonds has been adjourned for 21 days.

Northampton County Court heard on Monday that the Diamonds expect to be able to pay their creditors in the form of finance from Japanese investors.

The petition is headed by catering company Cloverdale, who are owed in the region of 拢65,000.

But the club owes money to a range of creditors, including a debt of around 拢189,000 to HM Revenue & Customs.

The last three days have been turbulent for the Northamptonshire side, after the Football Conference kicked them out of next season's competition.

League officials concluded the club could not prove its financial viability for the next campaign, but Diamonds chief executive Steve Beasant said they would take legal advice about a potential appeal within 14 days.

A was ruled out on Friday.
