Bolton boss Owen Coyle has already started making plans to replace striker Johan Elmander.

The 29-year-old, who has scored 12 goals so far this season, is out of contract at the end of next month and looks to be on his way to Galatasaray.

Coyle said: "If Johan goes that will free up a lot of finance because he was our record signing and on a terrific contract.

"That is money I can use to bring exciting young players to the club."

High on Coyle's list is a ready-made replacement and in Daniel Sturridge, who is at the club on loan from Chelsea, he could have the answer if the deal can be made permanent.

The 21-year-old has scored eight goals in 12 appearances since .

Coyle said: "I would love to have players of that stature at the club and I will leave no stone unturned to do that. We all recognise how finance can help you."

As for Elmander, Coyle conceded: "Galatasaray have announced on their website they have agreed something with Johan. Do I expect him to leave? In my heart of hearts, yes."

Turkish giants Galatasaray say they have an "understanding in principle" with the Swedish international.

Coyle added: "I have spoken to Johan and certainly nothing has been signed. That is not to say it won't be signed, maybe in the next couple of weeks.

"These are the things you have to deal with as a manager. I am very comfortable with that.

"I wish Johan well if and when that [a move] comes about because he has worked ever so hard for me in training each and every day.

"When he has worn that shirt he has given me everything he has got in a number of positions and worked his socks off for the team. He is someone I have a very good relationship with."
