Newtownards cyclist Martyn Irvine has won two silver medals at the Track World Cup in Glasgow.

Irvine, who competed for Ireland at the London Olympics, was second in the scratch race won by Switzerland's Tristan Marguet.

He then finished behind Olympic Omnium champion Lasse Hansen in the individual pursuit final on Saturday in a personal best of four minutes, 22.74 seconds.

Irvine's target is to return to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games in 2014.

He competed for Northern Ireland at the Delhi Commonwealth Games and was 13th in the multi-discipline omnium event at the Olympics.

"In the Olympic Games I was 10 seconds slower," he said after Saturday's pursuit final.

"I am just really motivated, living like a monk, doing everything right and it has paid off.

"I would love to go sub-20 (4:20) in the worlds in February.

"I am here to see the set-up and now I have done three good rides here I am really motivated to come back and get another medal in Glasgow."
