Warwickshire have ended the contract of Pakistan all-rounder Aamir Jamal because of a back injury.

The 27-year-old, who was due to stay until the end of the T20 Blast group stages, has only managed to play three games for the club.

His final appearance came for Birmingham Bears in a 26-run Blast defeat by Durham on 8 June when he bowled one wicketless over and conceded 25 runs.

鈥淎amir has worked incredibly hard with our medical and strength and conditioning team, but unfortunately, we鈥檝e run out of time to get him back on the field and bowling at full pace," said performance director Gavin Larsen.

"He was contracted until the end of the Blast group stage on July 19, but his rehab plan indicated he would not be fit for selection before then."

Jamal made his Test debut last winter, taking 18 wickets in three games against Australia, and has also played six T20 internationals.

"This is my first experience with a significant injury, and it鈥檚 been challenging to accept," he said.
