Scotland won by nine wickets

Scotland opened the World T20 Qualifier with a comfortable nine-wicket win over United Arab Emirates in Edinburgh.

George Munsey made 62 not out from 36 balls as the Scots easily chased down a total of 109 with 10 overs to spare.

Spinners Michael Leask and Mark Watt each took three wickets as UAE were skittled out cheaply inside 19 overs.

Kyle Coetzer was the only Scottish batsman to fall after chipping in with 39 before with Callum McLeod (seven not out) hit the winning runs.

Man of the match Munsey, who hit 11 fours and one six in his impressive innings, said: "We tried to get ourselves in and played our shots. I enjoy batting with Coetzer and it works well."

Captain Preston Mommsen added: "To get a first win under our belt is huge. We have a dynamic batting line-up and this sets the tone for us."

UAE made 21 in the first two overs at the Grange, but wickets tumbled with regularity, with the middle order disappearing in flurry of rash strokes.

Captain Mohammad Tauqir said: "This was a 150-plus wicket and we should have batted responsibly.

"It is a long tournament and we need to be a bit more responsible, especially in the batting department."
