Mark Footitt's 6-48 helped Derbyshire close in on a dominant victory against Glamorgan on day two at Derby.

After tail-enders David Wainwright (35) and Tony Palladino (33) saw the hosts to 241 all out, a lead of 103 runs, seamer Footitt took all five as the Welsh side slumped to 42-5.

Mark Wallace and Jim Allenby added 41 for the sixth and Will Owen hit 28, but Glamorgan were dismissed for 175.

Needing only 73 to win, the hosts closed on 13-1.

Things had looked more positive for Glamorgan at the start of day two, after Michael Hogan (5-63) helped restrict the hosts' response following Glamorgan's dismal first-innings total of 138.

However, Footitt had other ideas in mind as Will Bragg clipped him to mid-on, before he had Murray Goodwin caught behind and Jacques Rudolph caught and bowled to leave Glamorgan on 17-3.

After Chris Cooke and Ben Wright were seen off, Wallace and Allenby briefly thrived, but both fell to Tom Taylor (3-27), before Owen and Hogan's (22 not out) last-wicket stand of 34 at least gave Derbyshire something to think about going into day three.
