Kent & Hampshire draw after run chase
Kent and Hampshire settled for a draw after the hosts fell short following a contrived run chase.
Resuming on 229-6, Hampshire were allowed to reach 303-8 with Liam Dawson unbeaten on 134.
Both sides then forfeited an innings to leave the home side chasing 304 to win in a minimum of 70 overs.
Sam Northeast (79) led the way but Kent, from being well set on 147-2, stumbled to 199-6 and then played out a draw to close on 220-6.
Kent, who took five points from the match, are second in the Division Two table and 32 points behind leaders Derbyshire, but have played a game less. Hampshire gained six points and lie fifth.
