Hampshire added 40 runs without losing a wicket on a second successive rain-affected day against Kent.

Only 15.1 overs were possible on day one and Hampshire, who resumed on 50-3, closed on 90-3 when played was called off in mid-afternoon.

In the 18.3 overs that were possible, Liam Dawson and Australian Simon Katich took their third-wicket stand to 53.

Katich (43 not out) was seven shy of a fourth half-century of the season, while Dawson ended unbeaten on 22.
