County Championship Division One, Trent Bridge |
Nottinghamshire 162 & 47-0 drew with Somerset 445-2 dec |
Somerset 11pts, Notts 3pts |
The wet weather and an injury to Steve Kirby saw Nottinghamshire hold on to draw with Somerset at Trent Bridge.
The hosts resumed day four on 47-0, needing 236 to avoid an innings defeat.
Nottinghamshire's cause was helped by the news that Somerset paceman Kirby would be unable to bowl as he had suffered a hamstring strain.
The afternoon session was a washout and an unbeaten partnership of 60 from James Taylor (38 no) and Chris Read (33 no) saw the hosts close on 169-4.
VIEWS FROM THE COMMENTARY BOX
91热爆 Radio Nottingham's Dave Bracegirdle:
"Weather was the winner on the final day as the contest petered out into a draw.
"The respective first innings had set the tone of the game - Notts batting poorly on the first day after losing the toss on a greenish wicket and Somerset replying with a huge total as the surface dried out.
"The West country side were the better of the two teams but the absence of Steve Kirby meant they didn't have enough potency to blow Notts away a second time - and the frequent interruptions also helped the home side.
"Notts will be extremely grateful for the three points, as they didn't pick up a single bonus point in the contest but still remain second in the table."
