Fifth Twenty20 international, Invercargill:

England 110-5 (18.5 overs) beat New Zealand 109-6 (20 overs) by five wickets

England women continued their dominance over New Zealand with victory in the fifth and final Twenty20 international.

A five-wicket win in Invercargill completed a 4-0 series triumph, rain in the fourth match having denied the tourists the chance of a whitewash.

Anya Shrubsole and Georgia Elwiss claimed two wickets apiece to help restrict New Zealand to 109-6.

Sarah Taylor hit 24 off 17 balls before Arran Brindle and Jenny Gunn steered England home with seven balls to spare.

They made 23 and 22 not out respectively, adding an unbroken 49 to ease any nerves prompted by Morna Neilsen's three cheap wickets.

Shrubsole ended the series with 10 wickets at an average of 4.8.

"We started well with the bat and, despite losing our way slightly in the middle, we felt in control and had a lot of experience out there with Brindle and Gunn," said England captain Charlotte Edwards.

"I don't think we've played our best cricket today, but it's great that we are winning games of cricket and we'll be working on areas to improve."

Edwards added that her side must "hit the ground running" in the three-match one-day series in Lincoln, which gets under way on Thursday.
