Newton, 21, has scored 454 runs in seven County Championship matches. Murphy has hit 164 in four innings.
Newton said: "I'm pleased that the progress I've made has been recognised. I look forward to becoming a key player for Northants over the next two years."
Murphy added: "I feel we have made good progress over the past year and I'm very happy to be a part of that."
He continued: "I've been pleased with the way I've performed for the team and I believe the team has a bright future ahead."
Murphy is a product of the Northants Academy and, for the past two seasons, has deputised for Ireland international wicket-keeper, Niall O'Brien.
Newton made his top first-class score of in August, and also hit in September.
Head coach David Capel said: "Both Rob and David are talented and exciting cricketers and I'm delighted they have committed their futures to Northants."
