Jonny Bairstow hit a century off 53 balls as England thrashed a Hyderabad Cricket Association XI - but was unaware until told by his team-mates.

Bairstow hit the final ball of the innings high over long-on for his eighth six to reach an unbeaten 104.

He said: "This ground only had a little scoreboard which didn't have individual scores, so I didn't know about it until I walked back into the dressing room."

England won by 253 runs after bowling their hosts out for 114.

The 22-year-old Yorkshireman added: "I didn't have a clue, even when I was walking off. But I got told in the dressing room, and I was delighted to get that milestone.

"I had no idea at all. I was just 'in the zone' - batting every ball as it comes.

"When I got in and found out, I was over the moon."

Bairstow's century followed half-centuries from openers Alastair Cook (85) and Craig Kieswetter (71) and his fourth-wicket partner Jonathan Trott (74) as England made an imposing 367-4 at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.

England's bowling attack was much changed from the one which successfully defended 219 in Saturday's first warm-up match, but two of the new faces in particular took their chance to shine.

Spinner Scott Borthwick ended with 5-31, while Stuart Meaker took three wickets in an over in his 3-30 ahead of what could be an international debut when the five-match series kicks off at the same venue on Friday.
