Glamorgan seamer James Harris and Welsh batsman Tom Maynard have been named on England's winter performance programme.

Harris ended the season as Glamorgan's player of the year, while Maynard helped Surrey to lift the CB 40 title in his first season at the Oval.

The performance programme will provide England Lions squad for their tour to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in early 2012.

Both players will be involved with a three-week session at National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough.

After that Harris and his fellow fast bowlers will head to South Africa, while Maynard will travel to India with a group of batsmen.

It's the first such recognition for Maynard, who topped 1,000 first-class runs with Surrey this summer after leaving Glamorgan.

Harris has played for the England Lions both at home and in the West Indies.

Maynard left Glamorgan in the winter to sign a three-year deal with Surrey.

The 21-year-old handed in his notice to the Welsh team following his father Matthew's controversial departure as director of cricket in November 2010.

Matthew Maynard resigned after Colin Metson was appointed head of coaching and Alviro Petersen to the club's captaincy.

England Performance Programme: Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire), Scott Borthwick (Durham), Danny Briggs (Hampshire), Nathan Buck (Leicestershire), Jos Buttler (Somerset), Alex Hales (Nottinghamshire), James Harris (Glamorgan), Simon Kerrigan (Lancashire), Tom Maynard (Surrey), Stuart Meaker (Surrey), Boyd Rankin (Warwickshire), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Jason Roy (Surrey), Ajmal Shahzad (Yorkshire), James Taylor (Leicestershire), James Vince (Hampshire), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire).
