Jason Smyth's increasing profile will be further emphasised by his participation in next weekend's Diamond League meeting in New York.

The Eglinton man's inclusion in the 100m field for the 11 June meeting was confirmed on Thursday evening.

The Diamond League is the Grand Prix circuit's top tier of competition and Smyth's training partner Tyson Gay will also be in action at the meeting.

Smyth and Irish team-mate David Gillick are competing in Florida this weekend.

The duo, who are both part of Lance Brauman's group of athletes, are competing in the Star Athletics Last Chance meeting at their home track in Clermont.

Smyth clocked a new Northern Ireland record of 10.22 on the same track two weeks ago.

That cut .10secs off his previous Northern Ireland mark.

Smyth is hoping to better the Olympic and World Championship standard of 10.18 in the coming weeks so that he can achieve his dream of competing at both the Olympics and Paralympics in London next year.
