Mould is a fungus that can be found almost anywhere, both indoors and outside. Mould seeds (or spores) get into the air and are then breathed in. Mould lives in damp, dark and warm places. Mould can grow on anything from old books to dead leaves or straw.
What you can do to try and prevent allergic reactions:
• Make sure the work area is well ventilated and has proper humidity to minimize moulds
• Work areas should be dusted regularly
• If there are plants in the workplace, make sure they are regularly watered, and the topsoil is removed so that mould cannot grow
• Uncut fields and piles of damp leaves are prime places for mould. Stay away if you can
• If necessary, when you come back inside, take a shower to wash away any mould spores that hitched a ride on your skin and hair
