Police attitudes to rape
Just how much have police attitudes to rape really changed? That’s just one of the subjects being discussed at a two day conference in Manchester on how to deal with sexual violence. A special rape investigation squad has recently been set up in London – partly in response to a series of high profile and shocking cases. These include that of the taxi driver John Worboys, who went on to attack a number of women, despite complaints made by some of his victims to the police. Jenni is joined by Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Bates who heads up the new unit, and to Dr Catherine White from Manchester’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre.
