Law changes for prostitution and lap-dancing 25 March 2010
Street prostitute
How effective will the new measures be?

Men seeking paid-for sex on the street will soon risk being arrested on their first offence due to tough new measures to tackle prostitution. And local communities will have greater powers to challenge the number of lap-dancing clubs in their area. Both pieces of legislation will come into force in England, Wales and Northern IrelandÌývia the Policing and Crime Act next month. What impact will the changes have on women sex workers? How effective will the law be at helping women to leave the sex industry? And do these measures go far enough? JenniÌýis joined by Cari Mitchell from the English Collective of Prostitutes, and Anna Van Heeswijk from Object.
