Narrated by Jane Lapotaire, this 5-part series follows the very different lives of three beautiful brown rats, one living in a Tyneside sewer, another in a harbour on Merseyside, and the third on a farm in Suffolk, over the course of a year.

The Rats' Tales |
For centuries, man has had an uneasy relationship with rats. They must surely be among the most maligned of creatures; hated, revered, poisoned and attacked by humans - and yet they are among the most fascinating, intelligent and adaptable of animals.
Today, there's an estimated 60 million rats living in Britain - that's roughly one rat for every human being! This series presents another side to the creatures so maligned by man.
The Rats' Tales is a fictional story based on fact - and combines a rich and varied soundscape (recorded by wildlife sound recordist Chris Watson), with a powerful narration to produce a dramatic series following the lives of the rats, above and below the ground.
