Blackfoot Tribe

Past, Present and Future

Yvonne Ellis asks members of the Crow and Blackfoot tribes about their hopes and aspirations for the future.

Their ancestors survived on the plains of North America for thousands of years before white settlers arrived. The Europeans’ arrival was a mixed blessing - the settlers introduced the horse but also brought diseases and took over their land. Today, many Native Americans face unemployment, poor health and widespread prejudice. Will they always be overshadowed by their troubled past? And can they hold onto their traditions and beliefs in modern America or have they been lost forever?
