ÌýÌýListen (3'20) to a track by Len Liggins' band The Ukrainians called Zavtra taken from their album: Drink to my Horse! (Zirka Records - ZRKCD1).
Where I Play:
We started by touring the UK rock club and college/university circuit. From there we got offered tours throughout Europe, mostly in Germany and Poland. We got invited to tour Ukraine by their Ministry of Culture. We played theatres, festival sites, clubs and a cruise ship! It was a great honour for us and we were met at Kyiv (formerly Kiev) airport by television and film crews and a choir who sang for us in national dress in the arrival lounge!
We also play arts centres and world, folk and indie festivals. Wherever we play though, there is almost always a number of second generation Ukrainians in the audience and often we get invited back to their houses to play our set all over again, but this time acoustically and with large amounts of vodka! It's a wonderful feeling to play so intimately to people in their own houses. That's one of the great things about what we do - one minute I can be singing on a festival stage and later the same evening I might be singing (slightly more drunkenly) sat on someone's front room carpet!
