The new iconographers
How the ancient tradition of iconography is being translated for the 21st Century.
Nastaran Tavakoli-Far hears how the ancient tradition of iconography is being translated for the 21st Century. She meets two iconographers, Dr Irena Bradley and Kelly Latimore, who both interpret their icons very differently.
Irena is more traditional in her approach, creating an icon is an act of worship and to bring in the faithful who look at them into the presence of God. However Kelly鈥檚 approach maybe considered more modern, painting images that reflect modern day social injustices within biblical settings.
Nastaran hears from both of them separately, what drives them to do what they do and do they see their work as inspired by god? She goes on to bringing them together to hear how they relate and interpret one another鈥檚 work.
