Will Robson examines the ratcheting up of tensions between Russia and the United States, as a growing number of military bases, missile tests and military exercises threaten the area鈥檚 stability.
He also reveals how China has entered the fray 鈥 labelling itself as a 鈥渘ear-Arctic state鈥 and investing in icebreakers and scientific research in an effort to gain access to the 鈥減olar silk road鈥 鈥 an increasingly ice-free and potentially profitable trade route across the Arctic ocean.
