On Science in Action this week we look at the ethical concerns behind the so-called “Zombie Pigs”. Using a machine called BrainEx a team from Yale University part-revived pig brains hours after they had been removed from the body. The researchers are hoping it could lead to advancements in brain restoration but the NIH Brain Initiative says that there are many ethical questions researchers should now consider.
The Crick Institute in London has hosted their first Crick African Network symposium. The fellowship programme will train African researchers to tackle health challenges in their home countries by sharing the Crick's experience researching infectious diseases, including HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria.
Two very different Earthquakes studies have been released in the US. California sits on multiple Fault lines so is no stranger to earthquakes. But a recent study has been looking into why there has been a 100 year hiatus in ground rupturing earthquakes.
