The not so secret football agent
Former professional footballer and long time agent Barry Silkman reveals the secrets behind the scenes of transfer deadline day
Transfer deadline day gives one final and frantic opportunity for footballers to complete a move. One man who knows all about that is former player turned agent Barry Silkman.
Barry has been an agent for many years. He had a successful career including appearing for Manchester City. After his career ended Barry realised there was a lack of player advocacy and so he set about helping other players get contracts.
A career that's spanned decades has seen him deal with some of the world's best known players including a deal that nearly took Zinedine Zidane to Newcastle.
And football wasn't enough, Barry spread his wing into the world of entertainment and took a number of famous singers under his wing including Rod Stewart, but as he explained not Phil Collins.
Barry Silkman is not only keen to make sure his players get the best deal, but as many people as possible buy his new book, "The Not So Secret Football Agent" which is out now and can be purchased even after the transfer window shuts.
