DR Congo's humanoid traffic robots
In 2013, robots started appearing on the streets of Democratic Republic of Congo's capital city, Kinshasa.
Their purpose is to direct traffic and keep drivers on their best behaviour. They were invented by Thérèse Izay Kirongozi, after the death of her brother in a traffic accident.
They have green lights on their hands and a red light in their chest. They can also turn around and live stream to a police control centre. They also sing when children cross the road.
