6,500 hand knitted poppies for Remembrance
Six and a half thousand knitted poppies have been wrapped around a large tree in Loughborough's Queens Park - as a special mark of respect ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
Local volunteers organised by Loughborough in Bloom team were joined by youngsters from Watermead Day Nursery to complete the installation.
Over 2,500 hours of volunteering time over the past year have gone into the work, which is near the town's main war memorial, the Carillon.
Nicola Clarke from idverde, the company that looks after Charnwood Borough's public parks, came up with the idea last year. Nicola told 91热爆 Leicester's Tim Parker that the 'fantastic voluntary community' in Loughborough were keen to get involved.
