Is Thomas Tuchel the man to lead England to World Cup glory?
German journalist Constantin Eckner says the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as the new England men鈥檚 manager is a 鈥渟urprise鈥 but he brings 鈥渁 lot of positive鈥 attributes to the role including being a 鈥済reat tactician鈥.
The German will begin an 18-month contract on 1 January 2025 and becomes the third non-British permanent manager of the men's team after Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.
Tuchel, who won the Champions League with Chelsea, and has also won trophies at Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and most recently Bayern Munich, replaces Gareth Southgate who resigned in July after England lost to Spain in the final of Euro 2024.
Eckner spoke to Sport Today鈥檚 Ed Harry after Tuchel was unveiled as the new England boss.
