From Beirut to Birmingham
A plane evacuating British nationals from Lebanon is set to land at Birmingham airport tonight.
Mahasen El Dada is hoping to be on that flight with her 4 and 6 year old children.
She moved out to Beirut from Manchester to join her husband last year. After getting settled into life in Lebanon, she enrolled her children in school, bought them their uniforms and books.
Monday (1/10/2024) was her son's first and last day at school. Israel began its invasion of Lebanon just a few hours later.
In this interview Mahasen tells Sarah Julian about her agonising decision to return to the UK
