The countdown is on for our Make a Difference awards in September – celebrating people in Leicestershire and Rutland who go above and beyond.

We’ve had hundreds of nominations - and every week until the big day you can hear some of the stories behind the finalists.

All this week, you'll be meeting the nominees in the Community Award, which recognises an individual or group of people who have helped to genuinely change the lives of others within their community.

The Singing Cafe is an experience like no other. People from across Leicestershire with a range of mental health challenges meet to share music, community and happiness. Matt Smith went to get singing.
