Sarah Reynolds, from Portsmouth, is a finalist in the Volunteer category for the 91热爆 Radio Solent Make a Difference Awards 2024. She set up a support group to help people affected by pregnancy loss.
When Sarah suffered a miscarriage she felt alone and isolated. Despite being surrounded by well meaning friends and family, Sarah found that they didn't truly understand her grief which meant that it was difficult to open up and lean on them for support. After searching for services that she could access, Sarah sadly found none. She hated the thought that there could be others like her, feeling so alone and having nowhere to turn to while trying to process such a devastating loss, so decided to start a miscarriage support group.
Through Sarah, those experiencing the loss of a pregnancy have access to a regular group, opening up a whole community of support. Sarah has created a safe place where people can listen to the experiences of others and share their own if they choose.
The Make a Difference Awards are your chance to recognise a person or group in your community who does something extraordinary. Nominations for 2024 have now closed. The winners will be announced at our award ceremony in September.
