The countdown is on for our Make a Difference awards in September – celebrating people in Leicestershire and Rutland who go above and beyond.

We’ve had hundreds of nominations - and every week until the big day you can hear some of the stories behind the finalists.

All this week, you'll be meeting the nominees in the Great Neighbour category, the people who helps to make their neighbourhood a better place to live or work, either on a regular basis or through a single act of kindness.

Les Mant is at the heart of his community in Beaumont Leys. He offers friendship and hot meals to his neighbours who are housebound, and gets stuck in with activities to make his area a better place to live.

Matt Smith went to meet him.
