Meet Mike Plant, one of the most influential and successful men in sport you might never have heard of
Mike Plant is one of the most influential and successful men in sport, but you might never have heard of him. As a speed skater he competed at the Olympics in 1980, but after hanging up his skates he has become one of sport's most influential and successful administrators.
The President & CEO, Braves Development Company, he oversaw the ground breaking development of The Battery Atlanta campus. It not only houses the home of the Atlanta Braves baseball team, but is a work and leisure hotspot.
Mike has been explaining to Sportshour's Joel Hammer the challenges of setting up such an ambitious project twenty years ago, and the benefits both the Braves and Greater Atlanta area have received from the development.
He also talks about meetings at the White House about Olympic boycotts, setting up and running the Tour de Trump/DuPont and Tour of China cycle races, and there's even a love story!
