Johnnie Walker: Liverpool “kept his memory alive”
A special memorial has taken place in Liverpool to mark the 80th Anniversary of the passing of Captain Frederic “Johnnie” Walker, one of Britain’s greatest Navy heroes.
Although not born in Liverpool, he was stationed in the city during the Second World War and played a pivotal role in the Battle of the Atlantic.
His granddaughter, Jane Hedger, shares how it feels 80 years on from her grandfather's death that his life and legacy are still being commemorated.
