Finding new uses for old fishing nets in Newlyn
A pioneering Cornish firm says its technique of re-processing worn and damaged fishing nets could be a global solution to the growing problem of harmful plastic waste.
The creator of Newlyn business Fishy Filaments says up to two hundred thousand tonnes of gill nets are thrown away every year around the world.
Ian Falconer is working with local fishermen to turn these nets into plastic pellets which then go on to be re-modelled as other products. David Dixon has been to meet him.
