World oceans breaking temperature records
As greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane cause the earth to warm, so the oceans are warming too. The ice caps are melting and sea levels are starting to rise.
But what's worrying scientists is the extent to which our oceans are warming: analysis by the 91热爆 has found that water temperatures around the world have broken records every single day over the past year.
Newshour spoke to Dr Lisa Beal - Professor of Ocean Sciences at the University of Miami - who was taken aback by the news.
