What Local Elections could mean for the General Election

The 91Èȱ¬'s elections expert, Sir John Curtice guides us through the polling and projections ahead of the local elections in England and Wales on 2 May.

A local election of some kind is being held everywhere in England and Wales on 2 May 2024.

The contests – including council, mayoral and police and crime commissioner elections – will be the last occasion voters are asked to go to the polls before the general election.

The results will be heavily scrutinised for clues as to what could happen when the time comes to choose the next government.

The elections expert, and professor of politics at Strathclyde University, Sir John Curtice, guides us through some of the key results to look out for. (Image: 91Èȱ¬)
