25. April: Ambitious carrot crops

Your weekly seasonal guide to a successful allotment.

Down to earth gardening advice on growing your own fruit and vegetables with allotment gardener Terry Walton, from his plot in the Rhondda Valley.
It's still raining but hats and on and the planning continues. The asparagus is starting to show spears in the first of its short season, rewarding three years of patience. Terry has advice on giving a nitrogen boost to bean crops to try and balance any damage the constant rain has done to the quality of the soil.
Lynda has construction to do - building a carrot frame ready for Terry's ambitious carrot crops. It's time to plant the onion sets out now that they're a sturdy size and less likely to be picked out by the birds.

To download Terry's crop calendar, go on online and search for Terry Walton's Plotcast, you'll see a link to it on the 91热爆 Sounds page online.
