Calls to upgrade A1 to a motorway in Lincolnshire
Campaigners say more needs to be done to make one of Lincolnshire's key roads safer, including upgrading it to motorway standard in the long term.
Much of the A1 between Newark and Stamford runs through the county, but new figures show there have been almost 1,000 crashes since 2015 and congestion on the dual carriageway is a frequent occurrence.
Local drivers who have to use the A1 say they feel unsafe, especially at some of the junctions, and many avoid using it altogether.
