Drug driving: what's the real cost for Liverpool?
Drug driving on Merseyside has reached epidemic proportions.
That's according to a senior police officer reacting to local figures from Operation Limit, the nationwide initiative to tackle drink and drug driving over the festive period.
They revealed the startling statistic that one in three drivers stop-checked and tested were behind the wheel under the influence of drugs.
Stuart McIver, Merseyside's chief inspector for road policing, told reporter Marc Gaier that while we might be shocked, it's an unwelcome trend that shows no sign of abating.
