Post Office scandal: Cornish woman "lost dignity"
One of the big new dramas on TV this new year is about the Post Office Horizon IT scandal. "Mr Bates vs The Post Office" tells the story of Alan Bates and focuses on the epic legal battle he led and won, paving the way for dozens of convictions to be overturned.
Some sub-postmasters ended up in prison, others were strong armed into pleading guilty to lesser charges and many put their own money in to cover the deficits. Susan Knight ran the post office in St Keverne and started noticing shortfalls and ended up losing everything. Susan has been telling David Dixon her story.
A Post Office spokesperson says they're "deeply sorry" and are doing all they can to right the wrongs of the past as far as is possible. Offers of compensation totalling more than 拢130 million have been made to date, the vast majority of which have been agreed and paid.
